On Thursday, all participants of the 1st IZA European Summer School in LaborEconomics undertook a excursion to the Ettal Monastery and the Castle Linderhof which are on the opposite ends of the Graswang valley. The Graswang valley is part of the Ettal region which comprises Germany’s largest continuous nature conservation area. The Benedictine Ettal monastery abbey was founded by Emporer Ludwig of Bavaria in 1330 and has come to be one of the most important in the Alps. The Linderhof Castle was built by the Bavarian king Ludwig II. In its splendor and design Linderhof Castle surpassed even the plans that Ludwig II originally put into motion. Judging by the remarks of the participants of the summer school, they were quite impressed by the tour through the castle and the park of the castle.
