 | | For the month of August, both the Google indicator and a reference indicator based on the DAX stock index predict a reduction in unemployment. Since this is in line with the usual seasonal trend, there are no signs that the economic crisis has already had a massive impact on the labor market at this point. Of course, the forecasts for September 2009 are prone to greater uncertainty as they rely on estimates of the future Google and DAX trends. According to the Google indicator, unemployment will continue to fall in September (again in line with seasonal trends). While the DAX indicator predicts a rise in unemployment, it should not be overestimated because forecasts of the DAX are particularly uncertain. |
