About the Workshop

In the aftermath of the Great Recession, one in five young people in Europe are currently unemployed, while the distribution of youth unemployment rate across countries varies substantially, with some countries facing jobless rates of 50 percent or above. Against this background, the aim of this workshop is to bring together researchers who work on the role of institutions in shaping employment opportunities for youth. Papers dealing with the role of apprenticeship, active labor market policies, hiring subsidies, and education are particularly welcome.

Paper Submission

Those who wish to participate in the workshop are invited to submit a complete paper or an extended abstract by March 15, 2015 using the online application form.

Authors of submitted papers or extended abstracts will be notified no later than March 29, 2015 as to whether their paper has been accepted for the workshop. Complete papers will be due May 1, 2015.

Travel and Accommodation

Those authors who are invited to present are expected to participate in both days of the workshop. IZA will cover all expenses related to travel and accommodation for three nights according to the standard IZA travel guidelines. The workshop is scheduled to start on Monday morning (June 1) and end on Tuesday at about 6pm (June 2).

Kindly note that tax regulations prohibit IZA from fully reimbursing the travel expenses of conference participants who combine their trip with other destinations or extend their stay beyond the three-day window surrounding the event. Those with questions or concerns should contact IZA event manager Viola Hartmann (hartmann@iza.org) in advance.
