2nd IZA/CINCH/AHIL Workshop: The Economics of Long-Term Care and Healthy Aging
About the Workshop
We are pleased to invite submissions for a Workshop on the Economics of Long-Term Care and Healthy Aging, which is jointly organized by IZA, CINCH, University of Duisburg-Essen and AHIL, London School of Economics.
Labor market participation dynamics, population aging and works after the COVID-19 pandemic bring new challenges for the organization of labor markets, the need of long-term care, the wellbeing of caregivers and especially frail and disabled individuals at risk of going with unmet needs. These create new challenges in the way we design employment and social policies for older age individuals are their families, as well as the implications for their health and wellbeing. We are interested in submissions that cover the following areas:
- The supply of unpaid caregiving
- Health and wellbeing effects of ‘caring for’ and ‘caring about’
- Employment (retirement) and caregiving decisions
- Long term care after COVID-19
- Determinants and effects of nursing home entry
- Staffing and quality of nursing homes
- Healthy aging and the demand for long term care
- Caregiving subsidies and employment
- Other areas related to ‘Long-Term Care and Healthy Aging’
The workshop agenda is related to important issues for IZA’s new program area in Environment, Health, and Labor Markets, and to the broader IZA mission of studying the connection between demographic changes and the world of work. The workshop will bring together a small group of economists working on Long-Term Care in different countries and consist of a mix of early career and more established researchers.
