About the Workshop

To inaugurate the IZA Gender and Family Research Program, we are very pleased to announce the 1st Annual Workshop on Gender and Family Economics. The workshop will create a stimulating environment that will enable participants to engage in discussion of and receive valuable feedback on pressing issues in gender- and family-related research and policy.
Keynote lectures will be delivered by Professor Shelly Lundberg (University of California, Santa Barbara) and Professor Helena Skyt Nielsen (Aarhus University).
We invite contributions from both senior and junior researchers. Although submissions in all areas of gender and family economics are welcome, there is a particular interest in papers that focus on:
    • Fertility, parental leave and child care policies
    • Investment in children
    • Gender equality and women’s economic empowerment
    • Gender gaps in education and labor market outcomes
    • Intergenerational mobility
    • Intra-household resource allocation

Submissions

Researchers interested in participating should submit an extended abstract or a full paper by November 15, 2016 using our online application form.

Funding

Those authors who are invited to present their papers are expected to participate in the whole of the two day workshop. Economy class airfares and up to 3 nights of lodging for presenting authors and discussants will be covered according to the IZA reimbursement guidelines.
Kindly note that tax regulations prohibit IZA from fully reimbursing the travel expenses of conference participants who combine their trip with other destinations or extend their stay beyond the four-day window surrounding the event.
