The excursion for this year's summer school was to Castle Nymphenburg. The expanded baroque structure in the west of Munich was built as the summer residence of the Bavarian Elector. In addition to the spacious palace buildings, the impressive ensemble of baroque Court style also includes a series of important collections. The legendary beauty gallery of King Ludwig I, for example, adorns the south wing. As a part of the Palace museum, it can also be viewed, as can the birth room of King Ludwig II. The participants further visited the Marstallmuseum in the former Court stables that shows among its treasures the coronation coach of the Emperor Karl VII and the fantastic state coach of Ludwig II as well as an impressive collection of the porcelain art of Nymphenburg manufacture.

After the guided tour through the Castle Nymphenburg and the Marstallmuseum, the participants of the summer school participated on a guided bus tour through Munich, heading towards on of the famous Munich breweries for some traditional Bavarian food and beer.
