His fields of interest are applied microeconomics, labor economics and development economics. He works in structural econometrics, solving life cycle models in order to evaluate policy reforms and to understand how labor market incentives work. His current research is focused on the role of pension incentives and human capital formation in the creation of informal labor markets, inequality reduction and poverty alleviation.

He was an IZA Research Affiliate from March 2013 until July 2017.
