too h Fossen Frank M. Fossen is the Mathewson Professor in Entrepreneurship at the Department of Economics at the University of Nevada, Reno (Associate Professor). Before joining UNR in October 2016, he was an Assistant Professor of Economics with a Focus on Public Economics at Freie Universitaet Berlin, Germany. He is a Research Fellow of DIW Berlin and joined IZA as a Research Fellow in October 2010.

He received his PhD in Economics with distinction in 2008, a positive evaluation as Assistant Professor in 2014, and his habilitation in 2015 at Freie Universitaet Berlin. Before, he had studied at University of Karlsruhe and University of Toronto and graduated as Diplom-Wirtschaftsingenieur (equiv. M.Sc. Industrial Engineering and Economics).

Frank Fossen is an empirical applied microeconomist in the areas of public economics, labor economics, financial economics, and applied microeconometrics. From these perspectives, he investigates the economics of entrepreneurship, small business finance, taxation, and education. Twenty of his research articles have been accepted for publication in peer-reviewed journals, including Economica, Economics of Education Review, European Economic Review, International Tax and Public Finance (2x), Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, Regional Science and Urban Economics, and Small Business Economics (3x).
