Research Interests

José Varejão is professor in Economics at the Faculty of Economics, University of Porto. He studied Economics at the University of Porto where he also obtained his PhD (2001). His research interests are in applied Labour Economics. His main research topics are labour demand (adjustment costs, temporary employment, and hours of work) and migration.
José Varejão is currently the scientific coordinator of the Center for Economics and Finance at the University of Porto.
He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in April 2009.
