Benjamin Elsner (IZA): Digitizing German municipality-level data
The Statistical Yearbooks of German Municipality have a wealth of demographic, economic, and political data for municipalities greater than 10,000 inhabitants, ranging from the 1920s to now. The purpose of this talk is to show what has been digitized so far, and to give some ideas about linkages with other German data sets.
Andreas Lichter (IZA): Using sports data to for labor Research
We gained access to information on the universe of professional soccer players in the German Bundesliga for the period of 1992 to 2011. The data provide a variety of variables on player characteristics and performance. Moreover, full names for each player are given, which allows easy linking of external data to the current information.
