Abstract:

The HFCS collects micro-level data on household finances and
consumption, covering a broad range of issues including real and
financial assets, liabilities, consumption and saving, as well as income
and employment. It is conducted in all 16 euro area countries; it will
provide data that are representative at the country level, and
comparable across countries, given its emphasis on output harmonisation.
The first wave of the HFCS is currently being conducted, and it is
intended to make anonymised euro area micro data available to the
research community. The talk will give an overview of the main features
of the HFCS.
